Furukawa Battery Company Limited (The). The Group's principal activity is to manufacture and distribute storage batteries. The operations involve lead storage batteries for use in automobiles, motorcycles, trains and other electric equipment, alkaline batteries, power source units and electrical equipment. The operations also involve automobile related machinery, car coolers, solar cells and real estate rentals. Manufacturing and distributing of storage batteries and other activities such as electrical work and related services accounted for 100% of fiscal 2002 revenues. The Group's parent company is Furukawa Electric Co.,Ltd. and the Group has fourteen consolidated subsidiaries, thirteen in Japan and one in Thailand.
