Truckers still ride the lonely highways, but their bosses can now know exactly where they are. @Road's mobile resource management system enables vehicle location, wireless voice and text communications, and remote transaction processing with signature capture using a PDA. Along with truckers, customers include goods distributors, couriers, taxi companies, and school bus operators. Using GPS technology to fix a vehicle's geographic position, the company collects the data at a service center via wireless data transmissions made over the cellular networks of partner telecom companies. Verizon is the company's top customer.
