College ACB, controversy or creative?

In the college world, it’s hard to define what exactly counts as controversy. The lines seem to be more blurred rather than static. But this is something that society has come to accept. College is your chance to blur the line yourself. But when college students have all the control in a certain situation, or website, when is it appropriate for a more authoritative figure to step in and draw the line in the sand and set the limits.

A pretty well known site around different universities is colleacb.com. The website is a student made, student kept website that allows university students to make anonymous posts about anything and everything having to do with their university. Whether it is where the best places on campus to use the bathroom are, or which Greek life opportunities are bank. If only it stopped here. There are numerous posts for most of the universities about particular students that attend. Their names in big bold letters with mounds of comments underneath that range from positive words of encouragement to words of sheer hate and jealousy.

Should someone step in? Whose job is it to step in? As a college student myself, I can’t help but like the website. Although people do say things that probably belong in high school, I believe the creative idea behind the website itself is something that more people should follow in the footsteps of. Allowing people to state their opinions, no matter how harsh, without reciprocation or punishment is an opportunity…or in better words, a voice for those who wouldn’t normally be brave enough to have one. The website does also allow for you to put information regarding who you are and what class level you are as an option. Is it good or bad? Who knows? Is it just another thing to get bored college students to pass time and encourage some form of thought process? Yes.
