Flying has become one of the most reliable, yet expensive ways of travel in the world. With the New Year many people have a lot of worry on their mind as well as a lot of bills left over from the holidays. But are we going to have to worry about more flying fees as well? Looks like it. The following are 11 new fees that we may have to look forward to in this New Year:
- In-person check-in fee! (Yeah, instead of being encouraged to communicate…you will now be charged for NOT using the machines.)
- Credit-card fee! (You may now be charged for charging your card.)
- Checked bag fees…by the pound! (Rather than the usual base charge for 50lbs or less, there will now be charges for anything else as well!)
- Luggage distance charge! (Normally it doesn’t matter how far your baggage is flying…but apparently now it does. There may be a new fee that charges for anything over 1000 miles.)
- Internet convenience fee! (Not only will there be a fee for checking in in person…but there will also be a fee if you don’t and use the internet instead.)
- Carry-On bags fee! (If it doesn’t fit, you must pay!)
- No more price drop refunds! (Normally many fliers can find cheaper prices closer to take off, and will get their money back. Now the refund isn’t given back and you will actually be charged close to $75 dollars for switching….this may still save you money, but no garuntee.)
- Infant fees! (Usually if a child two and under can sit in the parents lap…they fly free. This isn’t the case anymore.)
- Name-Change fees! (Be sure when you book that it’s under the name you plan to fly with…or else you’ll face even more charges.)
- Fare lock-in fees! (In order to not have to pay more…you now have to pay more.)
- Restroom fees! (Yeah, that’s right…you may now have to pay to use the restroom.)
Now most of these may not be coming within the next year, but there are definite talks about the controversial fees to be added. It seems an already expensive form of travel is about to start charging for anything but breathing.
