Although it feels as though just yesterday we were bringing in 2010, it’s now time to let it go. But upon reflection…is it really possible that all the things we remember as “big news” fit into just one year? What about the past decade? Time all blurs together and it brings all new meaning to “it feels like that just happened yesterday”. Well, to refresh your memory as we begin 2011…these were some of the big hitters of not just 2010…but the entire decade.
- Johnny Depp (With another installment of the Pirates series a big success, and another on it’s way, Johnny has made an impact)
- Beyonce (Her solo success after separating from group Destiny’s Child has taken her to new heights…and new relationships)
- J.K. Rowling (In 2000, the author released the fourth installment of her book series Harry Potter. By 2007 the world was awaiting the seventh and final as well as watching the creation of all of her hard work come to life on the big screen by 2010)
- Tina Fey (Always going to be known for her stint on Saturday Night Live and the success of her show 30 Rock , Tina will also be remembered for her witty appearances in many shows and movies)
- Justin Timberlake (Although hard to believe, he started off this decade as a member of a sensational boy-band…only to have now made a name for himself as one of the greatest solo artists and business moguls)
- Oprah (Her name speaks for itself. From owning her own show to now owning her own network…it’s safe to say Oprah plays just as big of a role in our society as the president does.)
There were so many other big names this past decade, these are simply a glimpse. I encourage people to think back to where they were 10 years ago. We’ve had ups and downs and presidential blunders. We’ve been attacked, and we’ve attacked. But most importantly…our country has remained consistently strong and constantly cranking out more and more entertainers to keep us going on a daily basis. So here’s to what the new decade can bring us!
