The world famous rapper Eminem is up for 10 Grammys this year, which comes as no surprise! He has been nominated for some of the biggest categories including album, song, and record of the year. I would say that this honor would be the best part of his “Recovery”!
This album “Recovery” truly was what his songs were all about. Besides the popular music itself, it was a personal redemption for him as well. This came almost 10 years after his album “The Marshal Mathers LP” had been nominated for best album of the year. He had struggled in between these albums with a drug addiction. Although his lyrics seem angry, it’s his way of personal expression, and we can’t deny that it catches people’s attention.
His song, “Love the way you Lie” which is song with pop star Rihanna, is what is running for best song of the year. What Eminem is even more famous for though, is that Grammy he didn’t get years ago. The album mentioned above, The Marshal Mathers LP” lost in line to Steely Dan. Until this day, that is seen as one of the Grammy’s biggest stumbles. Eminem is however an 11-time Grammy winner and we hope he can add on to that number!
The only thing that’s in the way of “Recovery” receiving album of the year is Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”, Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Monster”, Lady Antebellum “Need You Now”, and Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs”. Eminem is considered the favorite of this category seeing as that Perry and Antebellum are still young, and Arcade Fire and Lady Gaga’s time will come eventually.
This album is a true recovery for a rapper that has spent years of his life confused and fighting to get back on track. Now that he has, he deserves the votes of audience’s everywhere to claim the awards he has earned!
