The law states that photographers that journalists that blocks the traffic and the cars of celebrities will be fined with $5,000 US, and they can even spend one year in jail.
Hollywood stars can now drive feeling more comfortable. The senate approved a law that carries out drastic sanctions against paparazzi in the state of California. The law passed with the majority support, 43 votes for and 13 votes against. However, for this law to be valid it has to be signed by the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also was the victim of some insistent photographers.
The measure was taken after many celebrities complained that they were assaulted while driving around Los Angeles. Some of these celebrities are Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart that nearly got into a car crash because of the photographers, Lindsay Lohan who complained that on her road to jail she was “hunted” and “harassed”, January Jones who was also involved in a minor accident or Alexander Skarsgard who also was a victim of paparazzi harassment.
And let’s not forget the death of Princess Diana, caused by excessive speed while trying to get away from a group of journalists. Among the supporters of this new law we mention Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
