When you publish on the Internet a photo that you made you want to ensure that people will know who the author is and you want to protect your copyright.
The fastest and most comfortable solution for this purpose is to apply a so called watermark. Although it’s not impossible to remove, this will add the authors “fingerprint” on the image.
For newbie users, watermark can be a text or logo that is added to a image with the purpose of promoting the author or to defend the copyright.
For photographers and graphic artists the solution will surely be Photoshop when it comes to watermarks. For other users, people who do not know how to use Photoshop, there are alternatives. They can use a specialized watermarking software, a software like TSR Watermark Image.
TSR Watermark Image is a free application who’s sole purpose is to place watermarks on images.The main advantage is the fact that you can apply watermarks on multiple images at the same time during a single operating. Basically, you select the folder that contains the images and the desired watermark. The program will then automatically add your watermark to the selected images.
The interface of the program contains three sections:
- in the upper right side you will select the watermark type. You can choose an image or you can use text
- in the lower right you can follow the watermarking process in real time
- in the left column we have different options regarding images but also regarding watermarks
How to add the watermark
The first thing you need to do is to select the source folder ( the one that contains the images you want to watermark ) and the output folder ( the folder where images will be saved after the watermarking process ). These options can be found on the top of the left column.
Next, you have to configure the watermark. First, you need to pick the watermark type: text or image. If you pick image, it’s preferred that you use a format that supports transparency, like GIF or PNG.
Regarding fonts, you have a few options available so you can format your text. You can choose the font, and also an emboss effect. These options are placed in the ride side of the window.
In the left column you have other options regarding watermarks and the images that are going to be saved. Some of them are:
- picking the format and image quality
- rotating images based on EXIF data
- automatic image adjusting ( dimensions )
- picking a specific level of transparency for your watermark
- precise position of your watermark on the images
TSR Watermark Image is a very good solution for people with little Photoshop knowledge and want to quickly solve the watermark problems. It’s a free software, if you are going to use it for personal use, and pretty easy to use.
