Many Americans have protested in front of Google for the principle of the internet neutrality, threatened by an agreement between Google and Verizon.
Around 100 people protested in front of Google headquarters in California against a controversial proposal regarding the way in which data flows on the global virtual network.
Companies Googlea and Verizon suggested that internet services through fixed telephony networks should be treated differently as the wireless ones and internet service providers should be allowed to promote different web sites.
” The Internet neutrality” is the principle according to which the entire web traffic, content, platforms and web sites should be treated equally by the data networks that delivers them.
The internet service providers however want to remove this principle, so that some companies should be able to pay so that their web sites to be delivered to internet users at higher speeds than the ones of the rivals.
This means that web sites that do not have promotion money will end up running at much slower speeds and they will have a hard time to attract visitors. The democracy of the internet will thus come to an end.
The 100 people that gathered themselves in front of Google to promote against the plan of removing the “internet neutrality” has made the company not to lose focus from their famous motto ” Never do harm”.
