Like with other important companies, the Apple products were cloned, with more or less success, by different obscure companies from Asia. In the case of Apple however, it seams like the Asians were even helped by one of Apple’s employees.
Paul Shin Devine, 37 years old, worked at Apple as a Supply Manager since 2005. He used his job to provide secret information to six companies in South Korea, China, Singapore and Taiwan, which provided accessories for iPhone and iPod.
With the help of the information received from Paul Shin Devine, these companies were able to better negotiate their contracts with Apple. In exchange for the information, the manger received, over the years, more than 1 million dollars!
Paul Shin Devine was brought before a Judge and he faces 23 counts, among which we mention fraud and money laundering. The investigation is lead by the FBI and the Internal Revenue Service ( IRS ).
