Even if a while ago it was the paradise of nerds and freaks who had all the time in the world to debate if Captain Kirk can kick Hans Solo’s ass, the annual event that takes place in San Diego, Comic Con, has become a must-go for studios and movie stars that want to promote their big budgets movies. This year, the event took place last Sunday and had as many stars as our galaxy.
1. The Avengers 2012
Capitulating after the success of Iron Man 2 and the future Thor and Captain America, Marvel Comics brought out the big guns, the actors that will star in the next Avengers movie ( 2012 ). Among them we mention Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth.
2. Angelina Jolie – stunt woman
It looks like nobody was outraged by the fact that the Salt movie was released in movie theaters on Saturday, when Sony brought Angelina Jolie on the stage to speak about the movie.
“When you will see the movie you will understand why I accepted this role” Angelina said about the role she had in Salt movie, a movie where she did her own stunts. ” It’s something that suits me very well and and I have many things in common with my character, so I thought that it will be a very good combination”.
3. Bruce Willis si Helen Mirren in Red
In the red movie, directed by Warren Ellis and Culley Hammer, Bruce Willis plays the role of a former CIA agent that is trying to rebuild his team. The Die Hard star plays along side actors like Karl Urban, Mary Louise Parker and Helen Mirren.
Even if Helen admitted that she was very excited to star in an action movie, she concluded that there are decisive reasons in her decision: ” It was great to have weapons, because long speeches are harder!” Bruce Willis also revealed that they are working on Die Hard 5.
4. Ryan Reynolds goes green
Fans got the chance to see a few images from the long awaited movie Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds in the main role. Other actors from this movie, like Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong or Blake Lively also participated at the conference, but they were shadowed by Reynolds.
5. Seth Rogen also green
“I am sorry if you are waiting for Ryan Reynolds” joked Seth Rogen when he went on stage to promote his next movie, The Green Hornet. ” For starters, I know he will tear my head off. I am tired to keep answering this question”. The audience accepted the joke, and the fans wanted to see Seth playing a newspaper editor, which at night he fights crime. And even if Seth was one of the writers of the movie, he admitted that he used a double to do his stunts.
6. Tron Legacy
The fans of the famous movie from 1982, Tron, were excited when they learned that Tron Legacy is going to be released this year, in a new format. The original actors, Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner will resume their roles, along with newcomers Garrett Hedlung, Olivia WIlde and Michael Sheen.
While the new 3D will have spectacular effects, impossible to make 30 years ago when the first Tron movie was released, some things have remained unchanged. ” I was attracted by this role for the same reason I accepted the first one. it’s about the child inside me”.
7. Will Ferrell in Double
Comedian Will Ferrell was probably the busiest man in San Diego. First he promoted the The Other Guy movie in which he plays the role of Allen Gamble, after which he put on his blue suit and joined Tina Fey and Brad Pitt to promote the new Disney animation movie, Megamind.
8. Legendary action movie figures
While Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t attended Comic Con, other legendary stars like Dolph Lundgren and Steve Austin joined Sylvester Stallone at the promotion conference of the new The Expendables movie. Rocky admitted that he was a freak when he was a kid, because he used to go to school dressed in his Superman t-shirt.
9. Hail Harrison
Even is Hans Solo is a royalty in the world of Sci Fi movies, Harrison Ford appeared for the first time at Comic Con to promote his new movie, Cowboys and Aliens. The megastar was brought on stage in handcuffs, joined by Daniel Craig, Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde and director Jon Favreau. When he appeared on stage, he received a standing ovation.
10. Sexy vampires
Even if the stars from Twilight weren’t present at Comic Con this year, the other two trendy vampire movies, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries had some really interesting panels.
When she was asked if she likes to shoot sex scenes better than horror ones, Anna Paquin said ” I rather get dressed sooner and kill people later”.
