Helen Mirren, on her real name Ilyena Vasilievna Mironov, was born in London, in 1945. Her father was Russian and her mother, english.
Her father changed the family name into Mirren in the 50s. Helen went to an all girls school, St Bernard’s High School for Girls, in Southend-on-Sea, Engand, where she appeared in many school plays. Interested in acting, Helen then enrolled in the New College of Speech and Drama college in London. At 18 years old she auditioned at the National Theater for Youngsters and got accepted. Until she reached 20 years old she already played Cleopatra, at the Old Vic theater in London.
Helen Mirren career started to get big and she starred in many successful plays, on the most popular stages. The actress preferred to focus more on theater and less on film, although films is what made her famous world wide.
Among the most popular of her films we mention Caligula, Excalibur, 2010, Prince of Egypt, GosFord Park, Calendar Girls and The Queen.She received the Oscar for her role in The Queen for Best Actress.
Helen Mirren also received the title of Dame Commander of England, from Prince Charles.
Susan Sarandon, on her real name Susan Abigail Tomalin, was born in New York in 1946. She grew up in Edison, New Jersey and went to the Catholic University of America where she studied acting.
In 1969, Susan attended a casting session for the movie Joe, along with her husband at that time, Chris Sarandon. He wasn’t accepted, however she received the main role. This role opened the doors for her at Hollywood. She starred along side Sophia Loren in Lady Liberty, in The Front page with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau and Lovin Molly with Anthony Perkins.
One of the most controversial role of her was in The Hunger, a modern story about vampires, in which she had a sex scene with Catherine Deneuve.
