This problem is caused by an eye condition known as amblyopia.
The Eyecare Trust from England, discovered that one out of 10 people cannot process 3D images.
If you have headaches or visual discomfort when you are viewing a 3D movie, then you might be one of the six million people on Earth with weak binocular sight.
For a 3D signal to be received correctly, the eyes have to work on a synchronization basis, but 12% of people, at least in the UK, have eyes problems that can cause difficulty in processing two images simultaneously and placing them in three dimensions.
The condition responsible for these symptoms is named amblyopia. This is also known as “The Lazy Eye” condition, being a disease of the visual system characterized by week sight. Amblyopia is a consequence of the binocular sight problems, without any organic injuries. The good news is that this disease can be cured.
