How to transform your photo camera into a time machine. In the travels we make, the photo camera is that friend that always comes with us. But have you ever thought about how places you visit looked like 100 years ago ?

Adobe and MIT have created an application that shows us the exact same thing. The program uses a technology used visual homing, which normally is used to guide cars to a specific destination.

The method compares specific key characteristics of the image with other historic photos located in a data base, and once the program discovers your location it will give you zoom and positioning instructions, so that the effect created to not have any discrepancies.

Eventually, after you created a photo, the application will overlay an image from the past.

Currently, the application only runs on PC’s, but in the future it will work directly on digital photo cameras. It will allow us to see the past, while we are taking pictures of the present.
