British singer Maya Arulpragasam, also known as M.I.A, said that Facebook and Google were created by the CIA, warning her fans about the way they use the two platforms.
M.I.A. said for Nylon Magazine that, in her opinion, it is important her internet users should know that the persons behind these web sites have the intention of “screwing with people” in regarding the protection of personal information.
“Everybody on the Internet is saying come along with us on Facebook. They are all so optimistic, and actually, everyone is screwing with you behind the screens. and I don’t like it! It is very hard for me to talk to my fans, knowing these thiings! Google and Facebook were created by the CIA, and when you are connected there, you have to remind yourself of this” she also said.
Recently, M.I.A. released a new single who’s lyrics criticizes harshly the US Journalist Lynn Hirschberg, who write a few weeks ago a not so great article about her.
M.I.A. is a singer, writer, British Producer, that is known for her involvement in fashion, visual arts and politics activism.
M.I.A. became famous at the beginning of 2004, thanks to the songs “Galan” and “SunShowers” from her debut album “Aralar”, which were very downloaded from file sharing networks. Her second album, entitled “Kala” was released in 2007 and brought her two Grammy nominations and one Oscar nomination.
In 2009, Time Magazine included M.I.A. in the top 100 most influential people in the world, because of the “Global influence” she has in many areas.
