Maybe Internet Explorer still wants to dominate the world of web browsers, but we don’t know for how long this is still going to be valid, considering that Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are catching up hard, at high throttle.
Internet Explorer browser is characterized more and more by inefficiency, generated mainly because the lack of support of web standards and by the low performance compared to it’s rivals.
It looks like Microsoft does not want to give up on this fight for supremacy, and they put all their hopes on the Internet Explorer 9 browser.
IE9 Platform Preview 3 was presented at the San Francisco conference and it comes in the same package with HTML 5 and CSS3.
Further more, the presentation of the people from Microsoft focused exclusively differences between IE9 and it’s rivals: Google Chrome and Firefox 3.6.4.

Yea hardware acceleration’s cool…but for the typical browsing nowadays, we rarely encounter HTML5, let alone apps that require so much GPU muscle.
Javascript performance seems to be more important.
