Inspired by other search engines, like Bing or Ask, Google will soon have background images on it’s main page. Unlike Bing however, the background images will not be placed by Google, but by the users.
Also, in the not so far away future, users will be able to personalize the homepage of Google by adding a background image from their own computer or from Picasa Web, Google’s photo sharing service.
Maybe some users are not so thrilled about this idea. The good side is that, if you won’t put a background image of your own, then the main page of Google will remain unchanged. Further more, Google will not load slower because of the images, because it will be loaded from your own computer.
For starters, this new feature will gradually become available, first for users in the United States, then for the rest of the users.
