T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide, officially announced

The slide version of the T-Mobile myTouch 3G mobile phone was officially announced by the T-Mobile mobile phone operator in the United States.

The new smartphone will be released on the US market starting June 2010 and, like the original version, it will be available in three colors: white, red and black.

Technical specifications

The first phone, T-Mobile myTouch 3G was the successor of the T-Mobile Google G1 which was released on the fall of 2008. Unlike the first model, the myTouch 3G model was more compact and this sacrificed the physical QWERTY keyboard. So, the slide version has made this available again. The new phone’s dimensions are 113 x 56 x 15mm and weights 120 grams. it has a 3.4 inch screen at a 320 x 480 resolution and 65.000 colors support.

myTouch 3G Slide has Google’s services preinstalled: Maps ( satellite, traffic and street viewing included ), G-Mail, YouTube, Calendar and Google talk. Also, it has a 5 mega pixels photo camera with autofocus, no flash or video recording possibilities.

The battery of the new phone has a 6 hours talking autonomy and up to 600 hours in stand-by mode. The phone has QWERTY keyboard, memory that can be extended up to 16 GB and comes in package with an 8 GB microSDHC card.

Other details

The connectivity of the myTouch 3G slide model is high, and if the first model didn’t had Bluetooth support, well this model solved this problem. The phone supports GPRS and EDGE, both at 10 class, 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and BlueTooth 2.0 with A2DP and USB/miniUSB.

The new T-Mobile myTouch 3g Slide will run on Android 2.1 and it will be available in the United States with T-Mobile 2 years subscriptions. For the moment it is unknown if this model will also be available in Europe. The myTouch 3G version was also released in the Fender version.
