James Cameron predicts a time dominated by the 3D technology, claiming that in the next few years we will enjoy all forms of entertainment, from sports, music to TV, and even Internet, in 3D format.
The director of “Avatar”, the movie which revolutionized the movie industry this year, said during a technology forum in Seoul, that 3D will replace 2D as a standard, movie format, tv or online content.
The “Avatar” Movie proved that 3D technology is not just a fad, but indeed a revolutionary change of the way in which audience chooses to consume media and entertainment. ” It’s very simple: where the audience had a choice, it has selected the best option to view the movie, and 3D was the best one, for the majority” said Cameron.
Cameron also things that 3D will also mean the beginning of the introduction of sound and colors in moving images. On the other hand, he doesn’t think that 25 years will pass until the 3D will become a standard and used by the masses, as it happened with color movies.
Manufacturers like Samsung and Panasonic have already started to sell 3D tv’s, in the hope that they will manage to be the promoters of a new wave of innovation in the IT industry. Also, movies in 3D format have massively been released to theaters, and people are going to the movies now more than ever before.
James Cameron will personally get involved in the development of the industry and in the attempt to promote the 3D format. Through this involvement we also understand the creation of quality 3D content, like the Avatar sequel, which production will take almost 3 years.
