HTC officially presented WildFire, a new smartphone that runs on the Android 2.1 operating system. The phone replaces the HTC Tatoo model, has a bigger screen and offers more performance. Further more, it looks like a mini HTC Desire and comes with Sense, an interface for social networks, a 5 mega pixels camera with autofocus and LED flash, Wi-Gi and GPS.
HTC Wildfire is promoted as an Android phone with an accessible price, however it represents a huge step forward compared to the Tatoo model.
It has the same processor as HTC hero, a 3.2 inch touchscreen at a 320×2240 resolution, 3.4 mm audio jack and microSD card slot. HTC Wildfire offers free GPS navigation with the help of Google Maps Navigation.
Wildfire also has an interesting feature: during a call, HTC Called ID displays the photo of the caller from the Facebook profile and the latest status update, and it reminds the user that if the birthday of the caller is coming up soon. Also, HTC friend system centralizes the published content on social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Flickr, in a single update.
The phone will be available in four colors: black, red, brown and white starting July at a price of around 180 euros.
