Guillermo Del Toro, is not going to direct the long awaited The Hobbit movie, prequel of the Lord Of the Rings franchise.
” In the context of which the begin date of the filming on The Hobbit was delayed, I have to make one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make. After 2 years in which I lived, breathed and worked at the creation of the amazing Middle Earth of Tolkien, I sadly have to leave this project” said Del Toro.
Del Toro thanked those with whom he worked in New Zealand in the last years and said that he can’t wait to see the final product.
The producer of the The Hobbit movie, Peter Jackson, says that he regrets that Del Toro is leaving the project but he understands that the repeated delays determined Del Toro to exit many projects before.
The first The Hobbit movie will be released in December 2012, as announced by Warner Bros in April. The second part was scheduled for December 2013.
