With the release of a new operating system, anti virus developers have to develop new solutions to protect the users that use different platforms.
So, McAfee presented their technology – VirusScan Mobile – for Google Android.
Unfortunately, for the moment the anti virus solution from McAfee is only available for the Motorola XT720 phones running on Android. Further more, it can only be used by users in Korea that are using the SK Telecom mobile services. Representatives of McAfee said that their suite allows the user to also secure their personal data, not only the protection against viruses. The Motorola XT720 mobile phone is the first phone running on Android released in Korea.
The phone has a 3.7 inch touch screen with 480 x 854 resolutions and a 8 mega pixels photo camera, with autofocus and Xenon flash.
The phone that runs on the most recent Android 2.0 operating system comes with some pretty high connectivity solutions, like GPRS, EDGE, both 12 class, 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 version with A2DP and USB/microUSB 2.0
The Motorola XT720 smartphone also has video and music players, GPS receiver and services like Google Maps, Search, GMail, YouTube or Google Talk. Also, it is capable to record in HD formats at 720p quality.
The mobile phone was released in the network of the biggest mobile phones operator in Korea, SK Telecom. The representatives of McAfee have not specified if their solution, VirusScan Mobile for Android will be available to other countries as well.
