Microsoft and Facebook versus Google Docs

Microsoft didn’t manage to buy the Yahoo engine and it’s services. They don’t need to anymore, since they manage to get cheaper and more efficient partnerships. After the Yahoo Messenger to Live Messenger integration, something more interesting will follow: a documents partnership using the Facebook social networking. A blend of ” the best of the office” with ” the best of social networking”.

Docs.com, fresh out of the Microsoft FUSE Labs, combines Office Web Apps to Facebook and integrates itself into Microsoft Office 2010. Since I am an Office 2010 user I will see how easy it is to work with, as soon as i’m awarded acess to the service.

At a first glance, Docs has the advantage of being integrated with the Office suite, which is still very used by the individual user. Even so, it remains to be seen how the adoption process will be. Documents can be created directly on the PC, and then loaded directly to Facebook, or directly to the browser if it’s connected to the Docs service. It also works on Chrome.

On Docs.com you will find more details and you can also sign-up for the beta service.
