Download IE9 test-drive (Developers Platform Preview)

Last week, during the annual MIX conference, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 9 Platform preview that allows developers to test the new Javascript engine, and also the support for HTML 5 / CSS 3 ( to be more precise, users will be able to test web sites using this preview, making them IE9 compliant, which will be released sometime this year ).

This version of Internet Explorer 9 is not a beta version, it’s just a preview, from which the IE team hopes to get enough user feedback with the help of which to be able to develop thisĀ  web browser.

IE9 will support many new elements in HTML 5, which will set the ground for new generation web sites, among which CSS3, SVG, XHTML analysys, H.264 / MPEG 4 tags and Mp3/AAC codecs. Also, IE9 will include hardware-acceleration support, to speed the graphical and text rendering.

The bad news is that IE9 will not be Windows XP compatible because ” this is a modern browser for a modern operating system”.

Note to users:

This is just a preview and not a fully functional browser. It is recommended to avoid using it as a default browser even if the loading speed is ultra fast, because security flaws are very probable, which will result in possible attacks against your computer.
