Volkswagen announced the opening of the R GMBH division, in reply to Mercedes, BMW, AMG and M. The VW division is needed because of a “growing request for individualized cars with sports characteristics” and it will handle the sale and development of high performance models.
R GMBH is described as a division “specialized in future sports models”. R GMBH has already assumed responsibility for Scirocco R, Golf R, R-Line and Exclusive models.
The R GMBH division is located in Warmenau, Germany and has more than 350 employees. In the future, the division is aiming to improve the sportsmanship of the VW R model.
