3D madness continues to spread itself in the world of video games. Nintendo announced their new console, that will be able to run 3D games.
The console will be named 3DS, being the direct successor of portable DS consoles. In the press release, Nintendo didn’t say how this new console will work.
3DS will not be available on the market sooner than March 31, 2011, at the end of the fiscal year. Nintendo said that more details will be made public at the E2 convention that will take place between 15-17 June, in Los Angeles, California.
This announcement makes the Japanese company to head to another direction, which declined in the past the idea of a 3D console. At the beginning of this year, Nintendo’s President, Satoru Iwata said: ” I have doubts that people will want to wear goggles at home in order to play games” The new console will be retro-compatible and the name is a temporary one.
