Google will move it’s search engine from China, but it will not shut it down completely, but will continue to be active in this state. This movie is an attempt to try to balance it’s position regarding censorship with the desire to make profit on a growing market.

So, starting Monday, Google.cn users will be redirected to Google in Hong Kong. The new page will show ” welcome to Google Search in it’s new China Home”.

Google’s attempt to reach a compromise might end a struggle that started at the beginning of the year that started to biggest campaign online with the government of the most populated state.

Google intends to keep his sales and programming offices in China to continue to sell advertising space.

Even so, Google takes a major risk. The riot against censorship risks to be a threat to Google’s growth, especially if this step makes the Chinese Government to take measures against Google’s business.

For example, the government might users internet filters to block the people’s access to Google.

On January 12, the american company promised to let go of the restrictions imposed by the government on the internet, after it was discovered that Google and 20 other companies in the United States were targeted by Chinese hackers.

In any case, China condemned Google’s decision to end the auto-censorship of Google.cn site and to redirect it’s activity to Hong Kong.

An SCIO official underlined that ” foreign companies that operates in China might obey the Chinese rules. Google violated it’s promise made when it started to do business on the Chinese market. It’s totally wrong to stop searching filters and to make accusations regarding China for hacking attempts.”
